Setting a SAP system manually offline
Overview
It could be helpflul to set an SAP system manually offline which is managed by Conigma, for the following scenarios:
An SAP system is basically available but for organizational reasons there is a development stop or import actions should not be able to carried out
An SAP system is in a status in which RFC communication is not longer possible, for example, if the database cannot be reached
An SAP system is actually offline but Conigma does not recognize it because the fast instantiation has been activated in the SAP system
If fast instantiation is not active, Conigma checks whether the system can be reached when an instance of an SAP system is created. If the RFC connection reports an error message during this check, the system is set to offline either after the third errornous attempt or after a period of 180 seconds, depending on which of the two events occurs first.
SAP system that were manually set to offline in Conigma are always ignored by Conigma. Only, if active actions are to be performed on the system. For example, when creating or importing transport requests to the affected system, is it reported that the system is currently not available.
Operating principle
A SAP system can be set to offline using the object action "Manually set to offline". The list of possible SAP systems can usually be found in the Conigma Repository Browser tree structure under "Configuration" -> "Infrastructure and communication" -> "Systems and clients". The object actions can be accessed via the context menu of the SAP system by right-clicking on the corresponding SAP system.
When the system is available again, you can switch the system back to online mode using the object action "Update online status" on the corresponding SAP system. Please note, that the "Configuration" subtree in the Conigma Repository Browser is only visible to administrators in the default configuration.
Report /GAL/CCM_ADMTOOLS_SET_OFFLINE
There may be situations where an SAP system is currently not available and Conigma no longer reacts when opening the context menu of the affected SAP system. In this case, the ABAP report /GAL/CCM_ADMTOOLS_SET_OFFLINE should be used on any available system. On the selection screen, you have to specify the ID of the corresponding repository and the system ID of the SAP system that you want to set offline. Conigma administration authorizations are required to execute the report (authorization object /GAL/CCM_0 with activity REP_MGNT).
After executing the program, either an error message or a success message is issued. The SAP system icon in the Conigma Repository Browser can also be used to identify whether a system is set offline. The information as to whether a system was set manually to offline can also be found on the central system using table /GAL/CCM_DATA20.
